Watch Dexter Season 7 Without Watching Prior Seasons

spoilers for seasons 1-6. No season 7 spoilers.
 http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbjjm3vu7v1qfx1f5o1_500.gif

Season seven of 'Dexter' was brilliant.

It may have seemed less brilliant if it weren't for the massive failures of seasons four through six, but regardless, it was a strong season.

When I first watched the seventh season I had only watched seasons one through three and part of season four. I got so frustrated after Jimmy Smits that I had to give up on the show.

But then I heard wonderful things about the seventh season and I caved. I watched it. Without watching any of the seasons inbetween.

And believe it or not that worked just fine.

Most of the back-story referenced this season took place during the first three seasons, and the major plotpoints (i.e. Rita's death) I had already learned about through watercooler conversations.

Although it wouldn't be quite as fun I think it would be relatively easy to watch season seven as a newbie without having seen any of the prior seasons. All you'd need would be minimal knowledge:

Dexter Season 7 Premiere on Youtube

Watch the Season 7 premiere of 'Dexter' entitled "Are You...?" below & then check out my comments!

Dexter Season 7: Will Deb Turn In Dexter?

After having a couple of slightly tedious seasons (exactly how many serial killers can Dexter face off with?), the seventh season of 'Dexter' had a promising start.

At the end of last season, Deb finally admitted to her therapist that she had feelings for Dexter. Since she's his sister this would be a little risque except they're not related people. The intense online debate of whether or not it was appropriate for her to fall in love with her foster brother shocked me. Because, come on, shouldn't we be dealing with the larger issue that she's unknowingly fallen in love with a serial killer?

Are Beckett and Castle a Couple?

Update added 7/9/12

So, now that this has happened:

What's going to happen next?

Of course, we can only speculate (unless a writer wants to give us some insider knowledge!). We know for sure that Castle and Beckett did sleep together, because Andrew Marlow admitted as much HERE.

I often compare 'Castle' to 'Bones', which is a tad unfair until you consider the plethora of similarities between the two shows:

HIMYM: The Magician's Code

Lots of exciting things happened on tonight's 'How I Met Your Mother'. Some of them were very expected, and at least one of them was a little less expected. If you haven't seen the episode yet, don't read what follows, because it has massive spoilers.

Bones: The Don't in the Do

Before you get excited, I'll let you down easy: the "do" and the "don't" in the episode title have nothing to do with a proposal, or a rejection of a proposal, or anything to do with marriage at all. Now, let's get to it:

Tonight's 'Bones' episode started with a bang thud. The thud of dead birds falling out of the sky, drenched in blue paint. In the middle of some sort of an evangelistic meeting. Yet, none of this really had much to do with the episode that was to follow. Except the blue paint...but we'll get back to that.

After this typical, slightly bizarre, very loosely related to the episode opener, we got to the important things.  Booth and Brennan. Or rather, a shot of their house. Despite the fact that no one has ever discussed it, I assume that this house is the run-down, kind of burnt looking house we saw right before the hiatus. The house that Wendall was going to fix "before the baby". Anyway, the baby has been born, and Booth and Brennan are living in a beautiful, you'd-never-know-it-was-a-dump house.

They've received a call about a murder (presumably related to the dead, blue paint drenched birds), but Brennan isn't ready to go. She can't decide what to wear, because none of her non-maternity clothes fit right even though she had the baby. Considering the fact that Brennan is A) a scientist who probably knows you don't shed baby weight immediately after delivery and B) normally shocking rational, I find how upset she is a tad against character. Then again, I suppose hormones could influence this shocking change in character (though, really, aren't the writers relying a bit too much on hormones?). Regardless, she is upset about the fact that she doesn't have clothes that fit, and no matter what Booth says she doesn't feel any better about it.

At the crime scene, Booth (stupidly) informs Cam that she needs to tell Brennan how nice she looks. Considering the fact that Brennan is clothed in a blue jumpsuit, I think this might not be the time. But Cam tries, and Brennan gets more annoyed at Booth for his obvious manipulation of the situation. Booth tries to talk his way out of it by telling Brennan she looks sexy in the jumpsuit--but who would believe that?

Oh, and before I get distracted by all this sexy talk, there is a dead body at the crime scene. And it's covered in blue goo.

Vaziri is this week's squintern, and he's super enthusiastic in a way that makes one wonder what drugs he has taken. Oh wait, apparently none! He is just thrilled that his article is going to get published in a scientific journal. He's made it as a scientist, you guys! Anyway, he isn't supposed to tell anyone this marvelous news, but he lets it slip to Hodgins. And Hodgins tells Angela. And soon everyone in the world knows about this.

The blue goo murder victim has been bitten by every animal imaginable. Vaziri, still on a high from his own scientific brilliance, suggests that they use Angela's fancy and unrealistic machine to match imprints from all the animals to the marks on the body. That way they should be able to remove the animal bites, and figure out what really killed the man. Unless it was an animal bite, it which case they're screwed.

Nope, wasn't an animal! But they don't know what it was, because (as Brennan sternly points out to Vaziri) technology can't be a substitute for human effort. Except for all the times it can. But in this case, definitely not.

The blue goo man has been identified. It turns out he was a hairdresser at a high-end salon. And he was sleeping with most of his female clients. He also had super long hair, which is weirdly important later.

Booth and Sweets question people. Typical questioning things happen. They think maybe it's a jealous woman who killed the hairdresser, but 30 seconds later we find out it's not. Because the hairdresser/murder victim had a drug problem, and that is probably connected to his death.

A competing hairdresser has disappeared--maybe he killed the murdered hairdresser! Oh wait, he gets found and upon questioning we find out that's not the case (also it's way too early in the episode for a resolution). Instead he was supplying drugs to the poor guy, but he claims he wasn't doing it recently.

If the murdered hairdresser was using drugs, where was he getting them? After some intense detective work (tracking a credit card) they find that he frequented a shop that was busted a year earlier for selling drugs. Coincidence? They don't think so!

Brennan discovers something important--she was right that humans are better than technology! Why? Because when she carefully examines the x-ray of the bones (huh, wait, an x-ray might count as technology) she discovers that he has been scalped. I told you that hair was important.

Booth and Sweets go to question the shop owner. There is a weird fountain inside with blue goo. The shop owner tries to run, but Booth tackles him! He is carrying a bag full of hair. It's a lot more hair than one person could have, plus it's a bunch of different colors, leading them to suspect that there may be other victims.

Side note: Booth is all gruff and grumpy because things are unsettled with Brennan (re: the whole attractive/sexy issue). Sweets picks up on this, and tries to give him advice. For a psychologist he does a lot of unethical poking around in other peoples' business.

Eventually Sweets drags the truth out of Booth, and then goes on a rant about body dysmorphia post-baby. He suggests Booth buy Brennan lingerie, because Daisy loves lingerie, and as well all know women are all the same! This leads to an awkward/hilarious scene where the saleswoman asks Booth if Brennan's boobs are like melons, and Sweets interjects that they're like mangoes.

Back to the case: They question the shop owner, but it turns out that the hair was just for extensions. He cuts it off the dead at a mortuary before cremation--you know, like people do. The dead hairdresser was one of his suppliers.

Which is where it gets complicated. Because the dead hairdresser's hair is not in the pile of hair that they found, despite the fact that multiple scalpings happening all over the place seems weird. Whatever. Anyway, it sort of puts the shop owner off the hook.

Angela takes Brennan to a spa day, because Brennan has admitted to feeling pretty down post-baby. While there Brennan has an epiphany. First Vaziri calls her to tell her that the victim's hyoid bone was broken in a weird way. The, as Brennan is getting a neck message, she realizes the only way it could happen would be if the neck were exposed to someone you trusted.

In a Barber of Fleet Street style twist, it was a hairdresser who did it as he was shampooing the victim's hair. And who better to do it than his own shampoo boy. Booth and Brennan (still in her spa attire) show up at the salon, and the shampoo boy admits it. Oh, and he's the one who scalped the guy, because his hair was "too beautiful" to go to waste. Gross.

So, the case is over. Booth and Brennan eat dinner together, and Brennan comments on how nice it is that baby Christine let them eat a whole meal without interruption. She goes to grab ice-cream from the freezer, and Booth quickly puts the box of lingerie on the table. When she returns she opens it. She's happy, then briefly insulted, then thrilled. So the lingerie was a win. She suggests they try it out, and when Booth makes a move to put the ice-cream back in the freezer she tells him to take it with them. Which is the most risque move we've ever seen from these characters. Unfortunately, right as they are going upstairs Christine wakes up, and Booth goes to look after her.

There you have it. All in all a pretty satisfying episode. Scalping murder solved, lingerie bought and appreciated, a usual lack of sex, and a couple of unanswered questions. Namely, where is Parker in all of this, and does that poor boy even know he has a sister? Now that Booth and Brennan are established in a nice house with a baby, wouldn't Booth want some occasional custody of his own son? Hopefully that will be answered soon.

Does your son even know we have a baby?

Bones will be back!

'Bones' Season 8 is a go!

That means that another season of 'Bones' will be back in the fall. Of course, considering the fact that 'Bones' was still one of FOX's top shows, it's not surprising that it was renewed. Still, I'm thrilled that we'll get another season of Booth, Bones, and baby.

Don't forget, there are still several episodes left to go in Season 7. The end of the current season starts this Monday (April 2, 2012) at 7/8C.

HIMYM: The Broath

Barney makes Ted swear a "broath" (bro oath, obviously) while wearing a "brobe" (bro robe, for those who haven't caught on). You see, Barney really likes Quinn, and he is going to invite the gang to meet her during dinner. However, he's worried about how the gang is going to react to the fact that Quinn is a stripper, so he asks Ted to promise not to tell them. Of course, Ted promises and then immediately tells the gang.

The group decides that they will try to figure out if Quinn is really trying to take advantage of Barney and his money. During the dinner they discover a couple of things.

1. Quinn is super controlling of Barney. Or, at least, the gang sees it that way. Is it possible that they have just never seen Barney take anyone else's opinions under consideration. Remember the past episode when Robin was dating Kevin (Kal Penn) and we saw the gang from his perspective? My point is, on this show you never know if what you're seeing is "real".

2. Quinn is moving out of her rent-controlled apartment. Since Robin and Ted let Marshall and Lily have the apartment, they haven't had a place to live. Of course, they can't live together because of the whole "Ted still loves Robin, and for both their sakes they can't live together" thing. Both Robin and Ted are living in awkward situations (Ted's living in student housing, and Robin is staying with her controlling co-worker), so they really want to sublet Quinn's apartment. It instantly becomes a competition.

3. Marshall loves to tell sex stories. Unfortunately, the only woman he has ever had sex with is Lily, so that makes it a little...awkward...for the rest of the gang.

4. There are tickets for an expensive trip to Hawaii in the apartment.

5. Quinn and Barney are moving in together.

Per usual, the gang holds an intervention (make that a "Quinntervention") to tell Barney that he is making a big mistake moving in with Quinn. In the middle of the intervention ("Quinntervention"), right when the gang is telling Barney that Quinn is clearly taking advantage of his money (note: the Hawaii trip), Quinn walks in. It turns out she bought him the trip as a surprise.

But, when Quinn hears that Barney made Ted promise to hide the fact that she is a stripper, she decides that maybe they are moving too fast. She believes that Barney isn't accepting of who she really is. And she does sort of have a point.

Quinn and Barney's relationship may be ruined, but Robin and Ted are more devastated about the fact that they've lost the sublet. The break-up does cause Robin and Ted to address their problems. Robin admits that she really misses Ted's friendship, and that she is super stressed at work and may be losing her job. She explains that she lost everything in one day.

The gang feels horrible about ending Quinn and Barney's relationship, and they go to apologize. He makes them do a "broath", while wearing robes, in a darkened room lit with candles. He even makes Lily and Robin kiss, and Marshall and Ted kiss. But, at the end of the "broath", the lights turn on and Quinn is standing there.

It turns out Quinn and Barney orchestrated the whole thing. Quinn purposefully acted like a bitch, Barney purposefully acted submissive, and they purposefully decided to make Ted and Robin fight. (That last one was really all Quinn, as Barney said, she's "as evil" as he is).

At the end though, Barney and Quinn decide that they really do want to move in together. Barney admits that he is not necessarily okay with Quinn stripping, and he asks what would make her stop:

"Hypothetically, what would make you stop?"-Barney
"Hypothetically, I would stop stripping if I ever got married."-Quinn

'HIMYM' stop taunting us with the whole "who is Barney's wife" storyline. We already have a "who is Ted's wife" storyline. Must you be so annoyingly convoluted?

Robin and Ted talk, and realize things have gotten really weird between them. They meet at the bar to discuss. Robyn informs Ted that she just got a big promotion, and that she is now Sandy River's co-host. So, yay! Robyn is not fired. Because she is now making more money, she can afford a nicer apartment, and lets Ted take Quinn's sublet. Ted admits that he does miss their friendship, and promises that things will go back to normal. Robyn smiles and thanks him, but things quickly become awkward and she gets up to leave. As he is walking away, Ted's voice-over states that this was the last time he saw Robyn for a long time. But why? Where is she going? I don't think 'HIMYM' would be any good without Cobie Smulders!

Anyway, there is a sweet moment between Lily and Marshall where she gives him permission to make up a third-base thing with a different woman. Believe me, it's sweeter than it sounds.

So, what's going to happen next week? Will we find out if Robin is gone, or if she and Ted are just estranged? Will Quinn feature as prominently as this week? Becki Newton, who plays Quinn, is only signed up for a short episode arc, so who knows!

It's Season 7, Episode 19 and Lily is still pregnant!

'Bones' PaleyFest 2012 Video

While I have a feeling it is vaguely illegal (Is it? It was recorded off a Livestream. Hmm, murky waters), I found a YouTube video of last night's 'Bones' PaleyFest panel.

For those of you who missed it, this is definitely worth watching (if only to see how David Boreanaz clearly doesn't ever watch his own show). Click on the photo to link to the video!

'Bones' Moves to Mondays!

Ugh, FOX, why must you ruin everything perfect.

FOX announced tonight (shortly after David Boreanaz sneakily mentioned it on Twitter) that 'Bones' is moving to Monday nights.

I already have 'Castle' to watch on Monday nights, and I really don't need another show. But, I guess I'll add 'Bones' to the mix.

'Bones' is now returning on Monday, April 2nd at 8/7C.

HIMYM: Karma

I was thrilled with last week's episode for one reason: Ted and Robin did not get back together. Thank God! I could maintain the illusion that Barney and Robin were going to rekindle their relationship. Unfortunately, that illusion was short-lived. In tonight's episode Barney moved closer to a serious relationship with Quinn (Becki Newton), and further away from Robin. No! Say it isn't true!

Oh, wait, look...they're kissing. Okay, so it's true. For now. My guess is that the Quinn/Barney relationship will continue during the rest of this season, but that it will by over by the time the season ends. After all, Becki Newton is one of the lead roles in the new FOX comedy pilot 'The Goodwin Games'. Take that, Quinn! I suppose it should be said that the creators of 'HIMYM' (Craig Thomas and Carter Bays) are also the creators of this new show, so they never designed Quinn to be long-term. I hope this also means that they didn't design her to be Barney's wife (remember that flashback from earlier this season, where we found out that Barney was tying the knot?). Finally, I hope that if 'The Goodwin Games' gets picked up it is less circuitous and irritating than 'HIMYM'.

In tonight's episode, Barney found out that Quinn was a stripper. Not only that, but she was a stripper at the strip club that he frequents.

WHAT?! Eh, it makes sense. I never look at their faces.
"Everywhere I go I see her...I see her dancing on that pole!"-Barney
"I see her dancing on that pole too"-Ted

Quinn manipulates Barney into paying her for multiple lap dances ($900 worth!), while he impatiently waits to see if she will go out on a real date. He refuses to see the manipulation, even though Ted sees it (and come on, it's Ted. He never notices anything). Instead, Barney emphatically states that he is "in love" with Quinn. Ted's a tad shocked, mainly because Barney is stealing his line, but also because Barney has never openly admitted to loving anyone. In his shock, Ted manages to break a chair. But it's all good, because he can probably make the empty bedroom into a woodworking shop. See, ever since Robin left he has been trying to come up with another use of the room...he's already steamed meat, so maybe woodworking is the next logical move.

Barney believes that he is dating Quinn for most of the episode, despite the fact that she pulls almost every move from his own playbook. At the end of the episode, they run into each other at a coffee shop, and have their first real date.

In other news, Robin is living with Lily and Marshall now, since she had to leave her former apartment since she isn't actually in love with Ted, and living with a guy who loves you that you don't love? Awkward.

Despite the fact that Robin hates Long Island, she feels herself trapped there. Mainly because Lily and Marshall are doing everything in their power to keep her there. Turns out they really hate Long Island, and they just wanted a friend to move out there with them. Robin points out that she'd rather set herself on fire.

At the end of this episode there actually is a twist that will make the whole series look different: Ted moves out of his apartment. But don't worry, the apartment isn't gone! Instead, he gives the apartment to Lily and Marshall, and sets Robin's old room up for their baby. Pretty adorable.

Huh, guess that girl I slept with really is a stripper!

'Community' Hiatus is Over!

We can all breathe a sigh of relief, this has been a good month for television.

Not only is my beloved 'Cougar Town'* back on the air, and ‘Bones’ finally has a release date, but now ‘Community’ is coming back too. February really has been a great month.

When is ‘Community’ back? March 15th, 2012.

Catch 'Community' Thursdays at 8/7C on NBC.

Thank goodness we're not called 'Cougar Town'

* Bad show, good title, yada yada yada. Watch 'Cougar Town' on Tuesdays at 8:30/7:30C on ABC.

HIMYM: No Pressure

On tonight's 'HIMYM', Marshall agreed with me (first time I've ever written that in a sentence). He explained to Ted that his big 'platonic friendship' gesture with the Christmas tree lights was really an admission of his love of Robin.

And Ted did admit to both Lily and Marshall (and to a certain extent even Barney) that he really did love Robin. Of course, Robin found that out too, because he told her.

But by the end of the episode we'd learned a couple of things:

1) Marshall and Lily have been betting on their friends' lives for years. Writing bets on pieces of paper like, "Marshall bets Lily Ted will go bald and he'll pull it off", or "Lily bets Marshall that Ted and Robin won't end up together".

2) Marshall and Lily made a sex tape one time, and even though Barney found it, he couldn't decide if he wanted to watch it or not, so the obvious answer was to break Ted's VCR.

To the sex tape!

3) Robin told Ted that she doesn't love him, they ended their "if we're still single at 40 we'll get married" pledge, and she moved out of the apartment.

4) Ted told Barney that Robin was in love with him. Barney admitted the heartbreak he'd experienced (how he broke up with Nora for Robin, and then she stayed with Kevin). Ted told Barney that Robin and Kevin broke up, but he didn't react with a lot of emotion. I think that goes to show how much Barney really does care about Robin, and how hurt he was. Barney then even went so far as to tell Ted that if Ted ended up with Robin, it would be all right, because he just wanted her to be happy. (Or as he said, "Bros before Hos. And Robin's my bro"). Ted tells Barney he has really grown, and he's right.

5) Robin clearly still cares about Barney too, because when Ted confronted her and stated that she loved Barney, she protested a little too abruptly.

6) The worst part of this episode was the end. Ted, in voice-over, made a statement about how he was glad to be able to permanently close the door on any possiblitiy of ending up with Robin. And I thought to myself, thank god that potential plot is gone. But no, the writers/producers have to never ever make anything concrete, and the episode concluded with Lily trying to get Marshall to pay her because of the bet ("Lily best Marshall that Ted and Robin won't end up together") and he states: "not yet".

Seriously, writers? At a certain point you need to stop playing with loyal fans of the show. It is legitimately getting to the point where I may stop watching. Allow us some progression, you seem to always make small promises regarding plot development and then snatch them back. Stop it. Thanks.

Oh good, we're not getting back together.

When is 'Bones' Returning from Hiatus?

Update 2/9/12: 'Bones' will be be airing all new episodes on April 5th at 9/8C.

Update 2/27/12: FOX has revised its Spring schedule, and 'Bones' is moving to Mondays! The season now returns on Monday, April 2nd at 8 pm.

People keep messaging me, asking me to tell them when new episodes of 'Bones' (Season 7!) are going to air. I have no affiliation with FOX, so the short answer is: I have no idea. That being said, I do know a couple of things:

Yes, this season will be short, but there are going to be a minimum of 17 episodes. Only 13 are officially scheduled, meaning the season may drag into the summer, or (if renewed for an 8th season) return earlier than normal in the fall. They're still filming now*, so if things go incredibly, remarkably smoothly there's even a possibility that there might even be more than 17. But...let's say there will be 17. Six episodes have aired, which means that we are not even half way through the season, and there are (hopefully!) 11 more episodes to look forward to.

The network hasn't officially set a release date for episode seven yet, but actors/producers etc. have alluded to the fact that the show will be returning in the spring.

When 'Bones' finally does return, we'll be watching the seventh episode of the seventh season (there is a kind of eloquence about that), entitled "The Prisoner in the Pipe". According to various internet sites, baby Booth/Bones will be born during the episode! And Brennan will go into labor in a prison!

While you're waiting for 'Bones' to come back, if you're looking for shows in a similar vein to watch, you might want to try 'Castle'. Several die-hard 'Bones' fans are pushing people to watch 'The Finder' (created by Hart Hanson, the man behind 'Bones'). While 'The Finder' is a completely decent show, and needs more viewers in order to be signed for a full season, its tone is not at all similar to that of 'Bones'. In fact, the only similarities I can see are the occasional character cross-overs (John Francis Daley guest-starred in the show's second episode).

I will update this post as more information becomes available from FOX, the producers, and the rest of the cast and crew.

*I'm not entirely sure what episode they're working on now, but they've finished through episode 10.

'Bones' Goes Back to Basics

I know this is going to sound a lot like my recent 'Castle' post, but it's good to see a show go back to its roots. And 'Bones' did just that in "The Crack in the Code".

If you've read any of my previous posts, you know that I've been disappointed with 'Bones' so far this season. That being said, I thought that tonight's episode was the best one of the season.

One of the biggest problems with the seventh season of 'Bones' has been the lack of interaction in the field between Booth and Brennan. Obviously, I completely understand Emily Deschanel's decision to reduce her time in each episode due to her pregnancy. However, her decreased screen time has hurt the quality of the episodes. So much of 'Bones' is based on Booth and Brennan's chemistry.

I'm not sure whether or not Deschanel was featured more heavily in tonight's episode than she has been in the last several weeks, but it felt as though she was around a lot more. The scene at the very end of the episode, when Brennan is able to see the beauty in the house that Booth has purchased because "the bones are there" was touching.

The addition of a new villain also helped make the episode stronger. I've always thought that the best episodes were those where the characters were dealing with complex cases, and challenges that had a sense of severity attached to them. The idea that this new serial killer is intelligent enough to rival Brennan is interesting, and it will be fascinating to see how she deals with this in future episodes (in tonight's episode she unequivocally refused to believe that anyone could be smarter than her).

We are six episodes into season seven of 'Bones', and FOX has stated that this season will have a minimum of 17 episodes. That means we do still have at least 11 episodes left to go (I say "at least" because FOX did make the statement that if they had enough production time they would make a total of 22 episodes, we'll see what happens there...). However, the show is now on hiatus for several months, with no set release date so far. And just when the episodes were getting good again.

'Bones' Schedule Gets Reorganized

The networks giveth and the networks taketh away.

I'm talking (of course!) about the fact that while ABC is giving us an extra episode of 'Castle', FOX is reorganizing it's already shortened season of 'Bones'.

We were originally supposed to see the sixth episode of 'Bones' 7th season this Thursday (December 12th). Unfortunately, it occurred to the network that 'The Finder' (Hart Hanson's new show) would probably do better if it had a 'Bones' lead in so no new episode this Thursday. While this may be true, it doesn't make me happy.

'Bones' won't return until January 12th, and after that episode the show will be on hiatus until the spring.

There's not a new episode of 'Bones' on Dec 12th, it's a rerun!

Critique of 'Bones' Season 7 Episode 1

How did you feel about the 7th season premiere of 'Bones'?

Oddly enough Booth and Brennan's occasional moments of affection didn't feel strange. Each time they kissed I didn't feel shocked, in fact if anything I felt a little too desensitized to it. It used to be that a Booth/Brennan hook-up was something that fans looked forward to and that there was a lot of excitement associated with a kiss. Now it doesn't carry much weight. I'm not sure why this has happened, but it just seems as though they have always been together.

The storyline itself was a little weak. Frankly, I can't even remember what the murder was, and I only watched the episode a day ago (to be fair to the show, I have watched half a season of 'Castle' since then which does muddy my memory with its own murders).

Also, although I know that Sweets is investigating crimes with Booth because Emily Deschanel asked for reduced screen time due to her pregnancy, I miss the old scenario where Booth and Bones interrogate witnesses. I hope that a few of the episodes this season still have that.

In a way I was pleased to see that Booth and Brennan are not having a perfect relationship, and that decisions over their living situation caused tension in this episode. The fact that they said "I love you" to each other was also nice to hear, although I feel as though we got cheated out of the six months or so at the beginning of the pregnancy that lead up to that moment.

The scene where Brennan falls down and gets stuck behind the crate and calls Booth to help her was also telling. Despite the fact that it was a little too ridiculous, and didn't fit with the general tempo of the show, it did help the writers highlight the fact that Booth is the first person who Brennan thinks of when she needs help. She even said as much.

I knew there was no way that the episode could live up to its hype, but I also thought that it could have been stronger. It was a relatively enjoyable episode, but nothing extraordinary.

Funnily enough the thing I disliked the most was the new opener. Superimposing still images of the main characters over a moving background really bothered me. It  reminded me too much of the opening credits of a sitcom. However, I do understand that if there is any time to introduce a new opening it's now, when large parts of the actual show are also changing.

Newest 'Bones' Promo--Extended Clip

Wow, an actual scene from 'Bones' as opposed to little snippets edited together. Only two more days until the premiere! Watch the first episode of the 7th season this Thursday 9/8C on FOX.
