'Bones' Moves to Mondays!

Ugh, FOX, why must you ruin everything perfect.

FOX announced tonight (shortly after David Boreanaz sneakily mentioned it on Twitter) that 'Bones' is moving to Monday nights.

I already have 'Castle' to watch on Monday nights, and I really don't need another show. But, I guess I'll add 'Bones' to the mix.

'Bones' is now returning on Monday, April 2nd at 8/7C.

When is 'Bones' Returning from Hiatus?

Update 2/9/12: 'Bones' will be be airing all new episodes on April 5th at 9/8C.

Update 2/27/12: FOX has revised its Spring schedule, and 'Bones' is moving to Mondays! The season now returns on Monday, April 2nd at 8 pm.

People keep messaging me, asking me to tell them when new episodes of 'Bones' (Season 7!) are going to air. I have no affiliation with FOX, so the short answer is: I have no idea. That being said, I do know a couple of things:

Yes, this season will be short, but there are going to be a minimum of 17 episodes. Only 13 are officially scheduled, meaning the season may drag into the summer, or (if renewed for an 8th season) return earlier than normal in the fall. They're still filming now*, so if things go incredibly, remarkably smoothly there's even a possibility that there might even be more than 17. But...let's say there will be 17. Six episodes have aired, which means that we are not even half way through the season, and there are (hopefully!) 11 more episodes to look forward to.

The network hasn't officially set a release date for episode seven yet, but actors/producers etc. have alluded to the fact that the show will be returning in the spring.

When 'Bones' finally does return, we'll be watching the seventh episode of the seventh season (there is a kind of eloquence about that), entitled "The Prisoner in the Pipe". According to various internet sites, baby Booth/Bones will be born during the episode! And Brennan will go into labor in a prison!

While you're waiting for 'Bones' to come back, if you're looking for shows in a similar vein to watch, you might want to try 'Castle'. Several die-hard 'Bones' fans are pushing people to watch 'The Finder' (created by Hart Hanson, the man behind 'Bones'). While 'The Finder' is a completely decent show, and needs more viewers in order to be signed for a full season, its tone is not at all similar to that of 'Bones'. In fact, the only similarities I can see are the occasional character cross-overs (John Francis Daley guest-starred in the show's second episode).

I will update this post as more information becomes available from FOX, the producers, and the rest of the cast and crew.

*I'm not entirely sure what episode they're working on now, but they've finished through episode 10.

'Bones' Goes Back to Basics

I know this is going to sound a lot like my recent 'Castle' post, but it's good to see a show go back to its roots. And 'Bones' did just that in "The Crack in the Code".

If you've read any of my previous posts, you know that I've been disappointed with 'Bones' so far this season. That being said, I thought that tonight's episode was the best one of the season.

One of the biggest problems with the seventh season of 'Bones' has been the lack of interaction in the field between Booth and Brennan. Obviously, I completely understand Emily Deschanel's decision to reduce her time in each episode due to her pregnancy. However, her decreased screen time has hurt the quality of the episodes. So much of 'Bones' is based on Booth and Brennan's chemistry.

I'm not sure whether or not Deschanel was featured more heavily in tonight's episode than she has been in the last several weeks, but it felt as though she was around a lot more. The scene at the very end of the episode, when Brennan is able to see the beauty in the house that Booth has purchased because "the bones are there" was touching.

The addition of a new villain also helped make the episode stronger. I've always thought that the best episodes were those where the characters were dealing with complex cases, and challenges that had a sense of severity attached to them. The idea that this new serial killer is intelligent enough to rival Brennan is interesting, and it will be fascinating to see how she deals with this in future episodes (in tonight's episode she unequivocally refused to believe that anyone could be smarter than her).

We are six episodes into season seven of 'Bones', and FOX has stated that this season will have a minimum of 17 episodes. That means we do still have at least 11 episodes left to go (I say "at least" because FOX did make the statement that if they had enough production time they would make a total of 22 episodes, we'll see what happens there...). However, the show is now on hiatus for several months, with no set release date so far. And just when the episodes were getting good again.

'Bones' Schedule Gets Reorganized

The networks giveth and the networks taketh away.

I'm talking (of course!) about the fact that while ABC is giving us an extra episode of 'Castle', FOX is reorganizing it's already shortened season of 'Bones'.

We were originally supposed to see the sixth episode of 'Bones' 7th season this Thursday (December 12th). Unfortunately, it occurred to the network that 'The Finder' (Hart Hanson's new show) would probably do better if it had a 'Bones' lead in so no new episode this Thursday. While this may be true, it doesn't make me happy.

'Bones' won't return until January 12th, and after that episode the show will be on hiatus until the spring.

There's not a new episode of 'Bones' on Dec 12th, it's a rerun!

All New 'Bones' Tonight!

'Bones' is finally returning from extended hiatus, but can it live up to all the hype?

Fans have been posting all over the internet so much since the season finale that there is no way the expectations of viewers haven't been escalated. There have been numerous complaints about the lack of any sex scene/build-up toward Booth and Brennan's relationship. Of course, this isn't HBO or Showtime, and no one is expecting real sex scenes...but you know, we had that fake scene in the Booth dream-coma (Season 4 Finale) and we had tons of Hannah sex scenes (beginning of Season 6). For goodness sake, we even had Cam/Booth sex scenes! So why not give loyal fans something instead of skipping all of the fun of a budding relationship. 'Bones' is supposedly attempting to avoid the Moonlighting Curse, but I'm a little concerned they're going to accidentally jump the shark instead.

What is the Moonlighting Curse? 'Moonlighting' was a widely popular show in the 1980s which had a lot of sexual tension between its main characters, but when they eventually hooked up they lost tons of viewers. The belief is that people didn't watch the show any more now that they knew that the main characters who they had always wanted to see together were actually together. It's called the curse because there's a belief that other television shows will also suffer poor ratings if they bring main characters with sexual tension together as a couple.

Hart Hanson, and others connected to the show, have been interviewed about concern over the Moonlighting Curse, and have insinuated that the Booth/Brennan pregnancy will let them avoid it all together. They're able to skip all the lovey-dovey new relationship stuff and suddenly have their main characters just be together. The only problem with this is that a lot of fans really do watch the show just for those Booth/Brennan moments, and many of them were waiting impatiently to see how the couple would get together and what would ensue right after they did. That has all been lost.

Hanson and co. are banking on the fact that by avoiding the Moonlighting Curse they'll hold onto viewers, but what if their attempt at avoidance is the very thing that loses them loyal fans?

I'd bet a lot that ratings for tonight will be spectacular, but I'm curious to see what happens in the long-run. What do you think? Do fans feel cheated and will it stop any of them from watching 'Bones'?

Watch an all new 'Bones', "The Memories in the Shallow Grave",  tonight (Nov. 3rd) 9/8C on FOX.

Happy Halloween! 'Bones' Michelle Branch Music Video

Here's Michelle Branch's new music video/the newest teaser for the upcoming season of 'Bones' (this Thursday!). The video is mainly a compilation of old clips, but the editing matches the tone of the song. Thanks TVLine. The player takes a moment to load--I apologize for the inconvenience.

And here's an older 'Bones' video. Happy Halloween!

First poster for 'Bones' season 7 released

Thanks to TVLine you can now see the official poster for the seventh season of 'Bones'. I'm assuming that the tagline "always something unexpected" is poking fun at the fact that Brennan is, in fact, expecting. I've never seen fans get so excited about an unplanned pregnancy.

First Sneak Peek Video of Bones Season 7 Released!

Finally, we're able to see a video clip from 'Bones' Season 7!

All new episodes of 'Bones' will air on November 3rd.

Check out the video clip that was recently shown at Fox's fall preview:

The clip shows Bones and Booth interacting at a crime scene. Bones is very pregnant, and seems reluctant to accept Booth's point of view (so basically, nothing has changed!).

What do you think about their interaction?

How many episodes of 'Bones' will there be in Season 7?

Bones Season 7 has Limited Episodes

The disappointment of 'Bones' 7th Season continues...

Not only is the series not returning until November 3rd, but Fox is only allowing Hanson and co. to produce 13 episodes this season.

That means a sadly short season for us, although I do support Fox's decision to not make any episodes with Emily Deschanel.

What I Want to Happen on...'Bones'

What Will Happen During the Seventh Season of 'Bones'?

From time to time I like to post what I want to happen on some of my favorite series during their upcoming seasons. As the season starts and ends, I follow up on my predictions and see if any of them came true. Many of them don't. Mainly because I'm not guessing the most probable situations, but rather because I am coming up with what I really truly want to happen. Leave a comment below and I'll add your predictions to my list. I'll re-post come October after the Season 7 premiere date and we'll see if any of our predictions came true!

1. There have been rumors on the blogosphere that Booth is not the father of Brennan's baby. I refuse to accept this. Booth is the father of Brennan's baby.

2. Brennan will tentatively agree that Booth should live with her to look after the baby. She'll insist on separate bedrooms at first.

3. Or Season 7 will start and Brennan and Booth will be a romantic couple. Everyone knows (which is kind of boring) or no one knows except for Angela, and no one knows who the father of her baby is (I vote for this! Way for fun!).

3. This time around, Brennan will be the one attempting to persuade Booth that they need to give their relationship a try. He'll be a little hesitant because he was hurt by her (and Hannah) before, but he'll agree to give it a go because they have a child together.

4. Hannah will reappear for one episode to try and get Booth back. It will be awkward.

5. Booth will want to christen the baby, Brennan will be hesitant. It will be awkward...but in a much more entertaining way than the whole Hannah thing.

6. Sweets and Daisy will get married.

7. Angela and Hodgins will randomly bring their baby to work. But only once or twice, because children and sets don't mix well.

8. Cam will continue to be relegated to the background. Which is kind of okay with me. I like her, but I don't care about her character developing further.

9. Maybe Michelle will make an appearance. Remember her?

10. Sweets will have hilarious things to say about Booth and Brennan and their baby. Or maybe he'll be the one person they're hesitant to tell about Booth being the father, and he'll get confused as to how their relationship dynamic is changing.

What do you think?

Bones Season 7 Premiere Date (Release Date and Episode Title Announced)

Click HERE for an update (2/7/12)
When is "Bones" Back?

Thursday, November 3rd!
The episode will be called: "The Memories in the Shallow Grave"
I admit that I'm probably as frustrated as the rest of you. Normally the new season starts in mid-September, and having to wait an extra month and a half doesn't mesh well with my patience. Still, the only good thing is in all likelihood it means that once the new season premieres we will have new episodes until May. Presumably Emily Deschanel is taking her maternity leave from the show right after her baby is born (this fall) until they show episodes in November. Because of this they may film as many episodes during hiatus (in July) as possible prior to her fall delivery. Which will make an interesting twist...how far along will she be in her pregnancy on the show? This definitely should calm the rumors online that Brennan's pregnancy annoucement is going to prove to be a dream, or that she will miscarry (although a late-term miscarriage is possible, it's a little too 'Secret Life of the American Teenager' to happen). Frankly, if I was the writers I wouldn't want to pass up the opportunity to show a frantic soon-to-be dad Booth dealing with a pregnant Brennan. But maybe they're tired of having to deal with pre-baby drama after Angela and Hodgins. Guess we'll just have to wait until November to see. All I can say is that I really hope they show everyone's reactions to Brennan's pregnancy, and their reactions to finding out that Booth is the father...if the writers skip that I'll be as annoyed as I was when they skipped the sex scenes at the end of last season.

edit: 'Bones' executive producer Stephen Nathan says, "The first episode will pick up with Brennan moving into the third trimester of her pregnancy. Brennan is still the same strong character and shows no sign of slowing down. She attacks each case as she always has, although she must now deal with the realities of being pregnant."

'Bones' will be having a delayed release due to E-D's baby, and a short season because of her maternity leave.

'Bones' Season 7--maternity leave, short season, release date

'Bones' 7th Season:
maternity leave, short season & release date

Fox hasn't released 'Bones' seventh season premiere date yet...but we do know that it will in all likelihood be in mid-September (that's when the last two seasons started). Of course, it's possible it will be pushed earlier than usual to get as much out of Emily Deschanel as possible before she goes on Maternity Leave. As soon as she's gone, so is the show...they'll be going on hiatus. This is good news for Deschanel's baby, and bad news for us because it means that we're going to get a shortened seventh season of 'Bones'. Hart Hanson's new show, 'The Finder' (which had a cross-over episode with 'Bones' during this past season) is going to takeover for 'Bones' for at least ten episodes.

EDIT 7/22/11: 'Bones' Season 7 Premiere Date Released
UPDATE 2/7/12: When will 'Bones' Season 7 Continue

I, for one, can't wait until we see how everyone deals with Bone's pregnancy. Read my posting here to learn why!

To tide you over until September finally rolls around, here's a video of Brennan and Booth's first kiss (with the actors before/after reactions!). This clip certainly shows way more passion than the show has ever given us in their edited down version. It also makes Brennan's line "It was just like kissing my brother" way funnier:
