Couples That Aren't Together...Yet

All of us have friends, or at least acquaintances, who we think would be perfect together. If we could only use forceful matchmaking skills, and make them date, all would be good in the world. Well, forcing friends together is a tad...difficult. TV characters, on the other hand, get forced together all the time. Here are a few current TV characters who should be dating, will probably date in the future, but haven't been forced together yet by the shows' writers.

1. Amanda and Pastor Tudor on 'GCB'
Okay, okay, there was that kiss at the end of the season finale which kind of suggests that there's something there. But honestly, we all saw it way earlier. Carlene's brother just wasn't the right choice for Amanda. For one thing, he kind of looks like he's twenty. And I can't imagine he'd be very good with her teenage children. As a rebound guy he was great, but as a new partner? I really don't think so. Pastor Tudor has clearly always been waiting in the wings. He's attractive, clearly likes Amanda, and even pays attention to what shoes she's wearing on a daily basis. And his shoe fixation isn't a Blane-like one, he just cares about everything she does. Amanda doesn't really seem ready yet, but I guarantee that if the show lasts that relationship will happen, if only because watching Cricket, Sharon, and Carlene deal with it would be hilarious.

2. Nick and Jess on 'New Girl'
This has been the big "it" topic among people who watch 'New Girl'. It's clear that Deschanel and Johnson have great chemistry, and their characters really complement each other. Nick can deal with the quirky, mainly because he's an oddball himself. Caroline? She can't really deal with the weirdness. Also, Nick is this super sensitive guy, and Jess has always understood that. Caroline, on the other hand, only seems to care about him when it suits her. Nick is supposedly moving out of the loft in the season finale, and Liz Meriwether promised that they wouldn't get together too early, but I refuse to believe the writers would throw that kind of chemistry away. Plus, Jess is wayyy too upset about the thought of Nick moving out of the loft, so something's clearly going on.

3. Peter and Olivia on 'Fringe'
Here's a confusing one: they were together, and there was even a baby, but then there were two realities, and two Olivias, and Peter disappeared, and when he came back no one knew who he was. Told you it was confusing. And then at the beginning of April, Olivia (the correct Olivia) finally remembered things, and it seemed like all was/is getting better. But it's 'Fringe' so I wouldn't hold your breath. There's officially only one season left, and hopefully Peter and original Olivia will be solidly together by the end of it.

4. Castle and Beckett on 'Castle'
There's a possibility that they may finally get together tonight, but my guess is that since it's the season finale, they'll let them almost get together but then there will be some kind of big twist. I just don't see a happy ending for a season finale, mainly because they've never done it before--every other season has ended with these two main character estranged. Still, there's a huge fanbase that desperately wants this relationship to happen, and I think the show will lose a lot of their fans if the sexual tension drags on for too much longer.

5. Dave and Penny or Dave and Alex on 'Happy Endings'
This is a weird one, because I could really go either way. The show began with Alex leaving Dave at the altar, but their friendship is finally back to normal. They've slept together once since then, but it seems as though they've both put it behind them. Sort of. Penny, meanwhile, admitted to herself that she had a crush on Dave in the season finale--but when she approached him to discuss it, she found Alex in his room. The fact that they've all friends really complicates matters. From a purely comedic perspective, I think it would actually make more sense to bring Dave and Penny together. Her boyfriend woes have been a great source of laughs, but at a certain point you can't keep relying on the same joke. A relationship between Dave and Penny could deal with the same issues in a different way.

6. Robin and Barney on 'How I Met Your Mother'
I wrote a whole post about them HERE.

Who have I left out? Which TV characters need to get together ASAP?
