'Cheer Perfection': Will There Be a Second Episode?

In a rather bizarre marketing move, TLC has been advertising the premiere of 'Cheer Perfection' for several weeks, drilling into our heads that the premiere date was July 11th, 2012.

Now, the word premiere obviously just means "for the first time", so technically there is nothing wrong with them using it in their previews. However, I think it also led numerous TV viewers to believe that 'Cheer Perfection' was going to be a new series.

Lots of you wrote in and asked me if this was the case. From what I can determine, from TLC's press site, as well as extensive online searches, 'Cheer Perfection' was not designed to be a series. It has always been a special.

Which is fine of course, except for the fact that the very layout of the show screams series. Set up in a way that is more similar to 'Dance Moms' than 'Toddlers & Tiaras', this show is edited to make you wonder what will happen to the children next. Will Torann pay attention? Will Brooke's back heal properly? Will these moms ever stop fighting?

In 'Toddlers & Tiaras' there is a sense of completion at the end of each episode. The pageants themselves allow for this.We see a full cycle: preparation, practice, and performance. If 'Toddlers & Tiaras' was a special it would make much more sense than this one-time episode of 'Cheer Perfection'.

This special only gave us a tiny glimpse of each child's personality (and a bit more than a glimpse of the mothers' rivalries). It seemed like a set-up for a series. Which makes me wonder if more episodes of 'Cheer Perfection' may be coming our way after all. My guess is it all depends on the number of viewers this special drew in.

Where's Episode 2?

  1. I agree. I watched the "premiere" last week and was looking for the next episode to watch; I had no idea it was a one-time-only deal and feel misled.

  5. I am mad to see some stupid show about virgins. Im a retired cheerleader who wants to see us get recognized. Bring on the CTR!!!!!

  6. I dance, so I love watching Dance Moms, and Cheer Perfection seemed to be the same as Dance Moms only cheer instead of dance. I actually like watching cheerleading and was very upset that a stupid Virgin show was on instead, as I had already set it to record the entire series.

  7. If there isn't a second show I will be crushed Im a cheerleader and I thought this was fantastic and I'm only 14! I hope they have a second show </3

And I dont blame them it was a awsome show! I say BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I loved watchin it.. why is it only 1 episode????????? They advertised it as a series............ Im frustrated!!!!!!!!

  11. I'm also upset that it's a one time thing. I am a former cheerleader, dancer and pageant queen! These shows appeal to more people then they think... they need to bring it back!

  12. I hope there's another episode!!! I thought the show was so good and really funny :)

  13. Although I love the show too, Im not sure why they chose that gym?? Where I am from, we have a nice sized gym, but none of our girls that age are a level 1 or 2? The REAL competitiveness is in the higher levels! I feel the crazy moms, we have plenty of those too!!! My daughter was on a level 3 at age 9, no, Im not boasting about my daughter, that is just normal for around here!!

  14. I will be so devistated to find out that this show won't continue!!!! Other than Dance Moms and Toddlers and Tiaras, as a cheerleader I wanted some drama in the gym! They better make a second! and not replace it by a stupid show like virgin diaries!!! TLC has to think! Younger audiances aren't gunna like a show like that!!!

  15. I didn't realize it was a one time special,I too set it to record in my dvr like it was a series and it recorded like 5 times but when my girls and I sat down to watch(what we think are 5 different episodes),it was all the same one. They made out like it was a series much like dance moms and toddlers and tiaras, since we r so busy with dance, softball and etc we record those show and then pick days we r home to have mini marathons of a few weeks of those shows we love. It gives us something to watch together too. I don't understand why they showed the first show if they wasn't going to show the competitions that makes no sense. And someone had commented y that gym,I belive the whole.reason for that gym being showcased is because a lot of the kids compete in pageants and are featured on toddlers and tiaras and the moms have been showcased on toddlers amd tiaras as well. As a matter of fact that is one of the reasons that my girls(my chidren)&I deceided to watch the show. When r they goimg to annouce if the show is going to continue?? I used to be a cheerleading instucter and my girls used to cheer when they where younger but the older they have gotten intrested in so many different things that I made them chose like 5 things a piece they wanted to and they liked cheering but they loved other things such as dance, national pageants, choir(singing competitions),softball and band won out cause they also have science olympaid(which is a school science competition ),stage club(which is a theater/acting drama class)&they go on auditions for commercials. And they will b doing some modeling cause they got seen by an agency that is interested in them. But anyways I got way off my point I would really like to know how I can find out if they r going to show any episodes of cheer perfection and if they may show the cheer competitions. It really would be a good series cause it would be similar to dance moms but with cheer. Well please someone let me know if u fimd out if it will air amymore. Thanks. :)

  16. I am a school and Allstate cheerleader and I am happy the show may only be a one time thing because it did not show the hard work and dedication we put in the sport. I am at the gym 4 times a week. And I have a job at the cheer gym also. As I have heard CTR, the gym they put in the show, has a level six team. I don't under stand why they are making a show about a level two team.

    1. I agree here because although i have been part of a level two team and a level 3 team, they arnt the most interesting teams to watch and i was very confused on why it was focused on just the little girls and the lower levels because the best is the older girls and the higher levels, i would understand if it was a youth level 5 team but its not so it was kind of disappointing but i do want to see more and see if they include stuff about the older more experienced cheerleaders, plus why is a level 5 tumbler being put on youth silver, what level is that anyway. I WANT TO KNOW MORE!!!

  21. Cheer Perfection Needs to be a Series ! Alisha and Cassadee are so Perfect ! Cheer Time Revolution is better than what the Show is making it seem. They have a level 4 and 5. Cheer perfection, Toddlers & Tiars, and Dance Moms are my favorite shows. Who cares about Virgins and other stupid shows ! BRING BACK CHEER PERFECTION <3.

  26. I was really excited to see the next episode
they really did make it seem like it was going
to be a series now instead of CTR I'm
seeing commercials for "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo"
that little girl and her mother are gross
did they really think pageant directors want to see
her playing with her stomach. EWWWW.

  30. I was totaly misled by the commercials

  31. I agree with some above. I was looking forward to seeing more episodes, and do feel a bit mislead, but am happy they aren't intending to make it a series. If they want to make a series about competition cheer, TLC needs to do a little more research on which gym they debut! My daughter is 11 years old and at a level 5, although she is too young to actually compete at a level 5, the real work the cheerleaders put into competition cheer is definetly at a level 3 and above. Competition in higher levels is much more fierce and cut throat at higher levels and TLC made it seem as if Level 2 was the team to be on. I was disappointed the level 2 kids got credit for putting in hard work, but what about all of the kids who are in the gym 4-5 even 6 days a week working on their level 3,4 and 5 skills? TLC, of you want to look into the real work of cheer, do a little more research on the top squads around the nation who have phenomenal higher level skills and come from some pretty awesome gyms.

    1. I would love to see a show of like top gun or world cup, or georgia allstars, not some unknown no one has ever heard of. The world needs to see real hardworking cheerleaders at work!

    2. If you are true to the sport we love called Cheerleading then you know and understand how our season works....Correct? The only thing shown to us in episode 1 was try outs which happen when cheerleaders? Late spring or Early summer! I have heard they have started filming just this month and new episodes will be in rotation this December. Regardless if you Cheer Rec, Allstar or Varsity about when do you get into that competition mode? Thats right anywhere between Nov - March & April depending on your squads skill level , what competitions you enter or if you make it straight to finals at Nationals or Worlds. I personally think its better this way! Don't act like your squad is not going to be watching it repeatedly.

  32. I am a cheerleading coach in Arkansas, and I know a lot of the coaches shown in the episode. It makes me mad to see them act like this. Yes there is drama in an all-star cheer gym, but everything shown was an exaggeration. After showing CTR, I wish they would go to another gym and show that as a coach you do not have to be mean and vulgar to have good athletes. As cheerleaders, the publicity from this show is not what we need. I would not be surprised if more rules were created to limit us.
